VAT return
The VAT overview in EenFactuurMaken.nl helps with your Dutch VAT return. Turnover and VAT per quarter, already split into boxes 1a, 1b, 1c, 1e, 3a and 3b.
Your dashboard has a VAT overview for your return. It shows your turnover and VAT per quarter, already split into the boxes (rubrieken) of the Dutch VAT return. Choose the quarter at the top right. You also see the deadline for your return (the last day of the month after the quarter).
The boxes
| Box | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| 1a Standard rate | Turnover and VAT at 21%. |
| 1b Reduced rate | Turnover and VAT at 9%. |
| 1c Other rates | Turnover and VAT at other rates (only if you have any). |
| 1e 0% or reverse charge | Turnover at 0% with standard VAT, and domestic reverse charge. |
| 3a Exports outside the EU | Exports of goods. |
| 3b Supplies within the EU | Intra-EU goods and services to EU businesses. Also put these in your EC sales list. |
At the bottom is VAT due (before input VAT): the VAT you charged.
Shown separately, and not part of your return: exempt turnover and KOR turnover. Services to businesses outside the EU (outside Dutch VAT) aren't included in these boxes either.
What's included?
- Invoices and credit notes that are finalised (also sent and paid), based on the invoice date. Drafts and cancelled invoices are not included.
- Credit notes count negatively.
- Invoices in another currency are converted with the exchange rate on the invoice. Without a rate they're left out.
What isn't?
- Input VAT (box 5b): the VAT on your purchases. That's not in EenFactuurMaken.nl; get it from your receipts or bookkeeping.
- Turnover you invoiced outside EenFactuurMaken.nl.
- On the Free plan: invoices that were deleted after 60 days. Older quarters can be incomplete. Download or export your invoices in time; see Storage and retention.
A tool, not a return
The overview is based on your finalised invoices. Always check your return, or have your accountant do it.
Through the API
GET /api/v1/stats returns the same figures for this and the previous quarter. With ?quarter=2&year=2026 you also get another quarter (in vat.selected). See the endpoint reference.
