# Connecting Cursor

Add the EenFactuurMaken.nl MCP server to Cursor with an API key and work with your invoices in the agent.

Cursor connects with an **API key**. Create one under **Settings → API & AI** (see [API keys and apps](https://eenfactuurmaken.nl/en/docs/security/api-keys)).

## Steps

1. Open `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (for all your projects) or `.cursor/mcp.json` in your project.
2. Add this:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "eenfactuurmaken": {
      "url": "https://eenfactuurmaken.nl/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer efm_your_key" }
    }
  }
}
```

3. Go to **Settings → MCP** (or "Tools & Integrations") and turn on **eenfactuurmaken**. The tools appear.
4. Ask the agent, for example: _"Create a draft invoice for customer Acme with 3 hours of consultancy at €95."_

> **Not in git**
>
> Don't commit a `.cursor/mcp.json` that contains a key to git. Preferably use the global `~/.cursor/mcp.json`.

## Handy for developers

Building an integration with the [REST API](https://eenfactuurmaken.nl/en/docs/api)? The agent can use the MCP tools to create and check test data while you write the code. The [prompt library](https://eenfactuurmaken.nl/en/docs/prompts) has prompts for building integrations.
