# The welcome guide

After signing up, the welcome guide helps you with your business details, house style, first customer and first invoice. Here's how it works.

The first time you sign in, EenFactuurMaken.nl opens the welcome guide. In a few minutes it gets you ready to invoice. At the top you always see which step you're on.

## The steps

### 1\. Your business

Enter the details that appear on every invoice: your business name, address, KvK number, VAT ID, IBAN and the email address where your customers' replies should go.

You also choose how VAT works for you:

- **I charge VAT**: the normal situation, with 21% or 9% on your invoices.
- **I use the KOR**: you don't charge VAT (small business scheme). Your VAT ID won't appear on your invoices. See [KOR](https://eenfactuurmaken.nl/en/docs/vat/kor).
- **I am exempt**: for example in healthcare or education. You enter the reason for the exemption; it appears on your invoices. See [VAT exempt](https://eenfactuurmaken.nl/en/docs/vat/exempt).

Don't have everything yet? Without a KvK number, VAT ID or IBAN you can already create a draft. To finalise an invoice, add them later in [Business details](https://eenfactuurmaken.nl/en/docs/getting-started/business-details).

### 2\. Your style

Choose one of the three styles (Classic, Modern or Minimal), your colours and upload your logo. On the right you see a preview of your invoice with your own details. This works on every plan. More in [Logo, colours and style](https://eenfactuurmaken.nl/en/docs/layouts).

### 3\. Your first customer (optional)

Add your first customer. If your customer has an EU VAT number, you can check it in VIES straight away. You can add several customers in a row, or skip this step.

### 4\. Your first invoice (optional)

We explain in four points how an invoice works: fill in the lines, choose the VAT, finalise and send. **Make my first invoice** creates a draft with an example line for the customer from step 3. This example invoice never counts towards your 5 free invoices per month, not even when you finalise it.

Choose **Later, take me to my dashboard** to go straight to your dashboard.

### 5\. To your dashboard

Done. For the first two weeks your dashboard shows a **What's next?** card with useful next steps.

## Skip and continue later

- **Skip** skips one step (steps 2 to 4).
- **Skip all** closes the guide. It won't open by itself again. You can set up everything in it under **Settings** too.
- If you stop halfway, the guide continues where you left off next time.
- As long as your business profile isn't complete, your dashboard shows the card **Finish your business profile**. It shows what's still missing (name, address, VAT number, KvK number, IBAN), and **Open the welcome guide** opens the guide again.

Already have an account with business details or invoices, or do you only use the API? Then we skip the guide automatically.
